A Message from Mrs. Stewart
Even though our school buildings are closed for the remainder of the year, we will still continue to teach and learn. It will just look a little different. Our faculty and staff have been working diligently to plan and prepare for distance teaching and learning to begin on Monday, April 6, 2020. The Alabama State Department of Education released critical standards for all grade levels and our teachers are using those to guide the rest of the school year. We will be using a blended model of both paper/pencil and technology options for all students so you can choose what is best for your child and family during this time. Our teachers will be doing weekly check-ins with all families to answer your questions and help guide you through learning from home. Please know that we are here every step of the way to support your children and continue their learning remotely.
Distance Learning Bags will be ready for pick up at the following dates and times:
Sunday, April 5 from 3:00-5:00 PM
Monday, April 6 from 9:00-11:00 am, 1:00-3:00 PM or 4:00-6:00 PM.
Here's how distribution will work:
Families will pull through the car rider line circle in front of our main entrance. You will STAY IN YOUR CAR AT ALL TIMES. A faculty or staff member will ask for your child's name and homeroom teacher. A bag, personalized for your child, will be placed inside your trunk. You will be given lessons and directions for 3 weeks. Completed work packets will be returned on a date to be determined and new packets will be provided. For those students in fourth and fifth grades, you will continue to receive instruction through the online platforms you are familiar with.
Student medications will have specific pick up times. You will receive a phone call with more information if this applies to you.
You may turn in library books during any of the four pick up times! 📚
Please know, as your child's principal, I am committed to helping you in every way that I can. I will be participating in check-ins each week and want to stay connected with my PES kids! I miss them terribly! We are in this together!
